Sol Kadhi

Sol Kadhi is a drink which is served as an appetizer along with meals in the Konkan region. The health benefits of Sol Kadhi are many. It aids digestion and also acts as a cooling agent.

Ingredients

½: Coconut (scraped)
2-3 pods: Garlic
2-3: Peppercorns
½: Green Chilli
3-4 : Dried Kokum

Salt, to taste.

Sol Kadhi

 

Directions

  1. Soak the dried Kokum in warm water for about 30 minutes. Mash the kokum and then sieve the mixture to separate the juice and the pulp.
  2. Grind all grated coconut, garlic, peppercorns and green chilli with enough water.
  3. Sieve the ground mixture through a muslin cloth and extract all the milk by squeezing. This process can be repeated a few times (by adding water) to ensure that all the milk has been extracted.
  4. Add the kokum juice to the extract.
  5. Add salt.
  6. Solkadhi is ready.
