This painting found in Cave 1 is on the left aisle. The style and form of the painting are similar to that of Janaka, so much so that it is often mistaken to be a continuous narrative.
During an arduous journey, Prince Kalyāṇakārin is blinded by his brother who runs away with all the valuables. Kalyāṇakārin eventually meets a beautiful princess, regains his sight, and makes the journey back to his kingdom to reclaim his position.
