A resident of village Bagh in Dhar district of Madhya Pradesh, Bilal Khatri is a globally renowned master craftsman of hand block printing. He belongs to the Khatri community which has hereditarily practiced this craft over centuries. For his noteworthy Bagh print designs he won the Award of Excellence for Handicrafts in 2016 by UNESCO.

At the behest of the Indian government, he has taken introductory classes on Bagh print in other countries and has participated in many cultural exchange events as well. The artistes laud the opportunity provided by the government to exhibit and showcase their art.

The Khatri community takes pride in employing the same process that was used during the ancient times. They use naturally derived colors from indigo, turmeric, pomegranate, jaggery, and iron rust. Using cotton fabric is a must as Polyester, Nylon and other synthetic fibers do not respond well to the natural colors harnessed by them. Their motifs are inspired from Bagh caves and historic monuments like the Taj Mahal and the Red fort, with few variations to cater to modern times.
