This brocade chadder, having golden Kalka designs in its four sides, belonged to Maharaja Nanda Kumar (1705-1775). Born in Birbhum, Bengal, he was appointed as the dewan or tax collector of regions like Burdwan, Nadia and Hoogly by the East India Company.
