This silk achkan or jacket belongs to Ramachandra Pandurang Tope, popularly known as Tatya Tope. He was one of the leaders of the Revolt of 1857, who played a key role in the siege of Gwalior and Cawnpore (Kanpur). This black jacket of Tatya Tope is decorated with golden zari work with a red border.
