Udukai is a percussion instrument made of cotton and wood. This traditional instrument is found in Tamil Nadu. Majorly used in ‘Villupattu’ and ‘Naiyandi Melam’ performances.

An hourglass shaped wooden drum with hooped membrane covers. A cotton tape is wound around the middle portion. Held in the left hand and beaten by other. Used in ‘Villupattu’ and ‘Naiyandi Melam’ performances.
