This has an elongated hour-glass barrel about 2 feet. It is suspended vertically from the shoulders at waist level. It is played on one side by two palms. This is primarily used for temple rituals. It has now been developed into a sophisticated Tala Vadya and is the chief instrument of Pancha Vadya.
