Para is a percussion instrument made of wood. Similar to Chenda, this instrument is found in Kerala.

A smaller size instrument similar to Chenda is known as the Para. Para is also the name of a measure (about 13 liters) and the size of the cylinder in Para would be about the size of the Para. It is used in Devi worship (known as Pana) and in other rituals. Different sizes and ones used by different communities are known with appropriate prefixes, Chirupara, Velan Para, etc.
