Maan is a percussion instrument made of copper. This ancient instrument is found in Gujarat. It is traditionally played by the ‘Bhatt’ family of Gujarat.

An ancient percussion instrument, Maan is a big pot made of copper. It has a small neck which is known as ‘maan’. It is played with rings that the player wears on different fingers. The player sings along while playing the instrument. Mostly played during ‘Akhyana’ ( Reciting epics like Ramayana, Mahabharata, Nalakhyan and other stories). It is believed that this rhythmic instrument was famous during the period of ‘Premanand’. Traditionally played by the ‘Bhatt’ family of Gujarat.
