Kelyacho Halwo

Kelyacho Halwo (or Kele ka Halwa) is a sweet delicacy from the state of Goa. It is served as a part of the main course and can also be eaten as a dessert.

Ingredients

4-5: Ripe bananas (Nendran variety)
2-3 tablespoons: Ghee
1 cup: Sugar
1 teaspoon: Cardamom powder
2 tablespoons: Water

Directions

  1. Peel and cut the ripe bananas into thin slices.
  2. In a pan, mix together the sliced bananas, sugar, and ghee.
  3. Add water to the mixture and cook uncovered. Stir fry lightly till the banana slices become soft and translucent and the attains a thick consistency.
  4. Add cardamom powder.
  5. Turn of the heat and allow the halwa to cool.

Kelyacho Halwo is best enjoyed with roti and puris.
