Goan Fish Curry

Ingredients
1 (medium sized): | Pomfret or any other fish |
½ teaspoon: | Turmeric powder |
1(medium sized): | Coconut (scraped) |
½ teaspoon: | Coriander seeds |
1(medium sized): | Onion (diced) |
1 tablespoon: | Coconut oil or vegetable oil |
1 tablespoon: | Tamarind paste |
2-3: | Kashmiri red chilies |
4-5: | Peppercorns |
Salt, to taste

Directions
Preparing the rice-flour
- Marinate fish pieces with a little turmeric powder and salt, keep aside for 10 minutes.
- Grind the coconut with water and extract coconut milk by squeezing it through a muslin cloth.
- Heat oil in a pan.
- Sauté the diced onions till they are golden brown.
- Add the Kashmiri red chillies, peppercorns, coriander seeds, tamarind paste, salt and water, and mix the ingredients well.
- After two minutes, add the marinated fish pieces.
- Keep it on a low flame till the fish soaks up the masala.
- Add the coconut milk and bring it to a slow boil, and turn the flame off. Do not boil too much.
Serve with hot steamed rice.
