Siddu Ghee

Description: This dish is traditionally eaten in winters as the ghee with which it is served helps maintain body temperatures and provides energy. These are steamed buns made with flour which is left to rise and then stuffed with a paste made with white poppy seeds. The steamed buns are also lightly toasted to provide a brown hue. They can be made savory with salt or jaggery could be mixed in the poppy seeds to make sweet "siddus".
