On the right aisle in Cave 17, there are a group of paintings based on stories of Bodhisattva in which he is born as an animal. In these stories, the animals display compassion and kindness towards humans.
An elephant which is trapped and brought to the palace refuses to eat any food. The king finds out that the young elephant was the sole caregiver for its ageing parents. The king frees the elephant who returns to the forest.
