There are a group of paintings based on stories of Bodhisatva in which he is born as an animal. In these stories, the animals display compassion and kindness towards the world.
Story:
A compassionate wild buffalo is troubled by a wicked monkey. A Yakṣa rewards the buffalo for its patience by giving him a protective charm that works against the monkey.
